The Temper Trap — Rabbit Hole
Better than Need Your Love, in my opinion. It’ll be tough, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an album that lives up to the standard of Conditions, but if it falls just short I’d be okay with that too.
Unpopular opinion
Darius Rucker circa Hootie & The Blowfish > Darius Rucker circa today. Sorry man.
Hootie hater comments not welcome.
Last weekend my grandparents celebrated 50 years together. We had a get together at home and various friends of our family came to congratulate them and wish them well. It was a wonderful day and it was so special to see all these people I’ve known my whole life coming together to celebrate my grandparent’s love.
I knew I wanted to play for them at their party, so about an hour in I surprised them with Adele’s version of “Make You Feel My Love”. There were happy, lovey tears all around. A little bit later my nan asked if I would play again, this time with a special request: Adam Sandler’s “I Wanna Grow Old With You” (from The Wedding Singer). A little more lighthearted of a song, so there were more laughs an less tears. A good balance.
The first one wasn’t recorded but my mom did get the second one on video, so I’m sharing it with you!
Show of hands for my fellow P.Griffin fans, please?
I love everything of hers, but this is just one of those songs that I can listen to any time. All the time.
If you appreciate folk/americana music and/or a good female singer/songwriter ((her lyrics. Ugh. I can’t even.)) and don’t know about Patty, do yourselves a favor and GET ON THAT.
First time on Spotify tonight. First song I played?
No Diggity — Blackstreet
Second Song: This Is How We Do It — Montell Jordan
Hundred dolla bills, y’all.
GVOYW.
Humble beginnings, folks.
The place I played at last night was LOUD, the sound system was janky (at BEST) , I had no way of hearing myself through a monitor or speakers that faced me, and the guy who took the video recorded in portrait mode, so when I cropped to make it landscape/more video-approp, it got hecka blurry.
But I played a gig! A SOLO gig! And it went so marvelously and wonderfully and I only messed up a couple times on the guitar and I hit all the high notes at all the right times and I got a ton of compliments afterwards and seriously my lack of punctuation here is making up for the comma overload in the last paragraph.
Icing on the cake: I don’t look busted in the videos. Here’s another, if you’re interested.
Playing for a crowd and receiving mad applause definitely does not help this “what am i doing with my life i dont think i like my degree anymore” crisis I’m dealing with, but whatever amiright? Just live your life.
Eyyy-eyyy-eyyyy.
I hope you’re singing that Rihanna song now.
Alright now seriously:

This is my set list so far for Tuesday.
Six songs for sure. Two maybes. I need nine or ten. And I am calling upon you for help: I need you to hit me with your best shot/song selections right now. I will add them to my set list accordingly, based on the following criteria:
1) Do I know it already?
2) If not, is it easy enough to learn it in one day?
If you could be so kind as to throw an option out there, be it your favorite song ever or just simply a song you think will be a real crowd pleaser, I would be ever so grateful!
Thanks in advance, puddin’ pops.
—City and Colour - The Girl
“The Girl” — City And Colour
Can not stop listening to this song.
I got into City & Colour a while ago, but as I do with most new music, I burnt myself out quickly. And it fell further and further down into my iTunes. The rest is history.
This song came on shuffle the other day, though, and I remembered how much I loved it:
I wish I could do better by you,
Cause thats what you deserve.
You sacrifice so much of your whole life,
In order for this to work.
While I’m off chasing my own dreams,
Sailing around the world,
Please know that I’m yours to keep,
My beautiful girl.
When you cry a piece of my heart dies,
Knowing that I may have been the cause,
If you were to leave, fulfill someone else’s dreams,
I think I might totally be lost.
You don’t ask for no diamond rings,
No delicate string of pearls,
That’s why I wrote this song to sing,
My beautiful girl.
Melt.
Seeing them in San Francisco in November. WHAT!!!!
